Turn it Up
Speaking of EMO. I am suddenly thrilled by the fact that EMO is evolving from it's murky-assed hole into hard rock and metal sounding stuff of the deep and dark variety.
Coheed and Cambria started me on this tip earlier this year, and I recently discovered this band called Atreyu that's good too.
I promptly went to my hardcore buddy Jaime who sents down a ways from me and this is where she's pointed me for new music:
DECENT BANDS IN THE VEIN OF ATREYU:
Eighteen Visions
Avenged Sevenfold
Bleeding Through
Caliban
Funeral For A Friend
ADVANCED LISTENING:
Every Time I Die
Dillinger Escape Plan
The Black Dahlia Murder
Candiria
Darkest Hour
AMERICAN METAL/STEREOTYPED METALCORE W/GOOD MELODIC BREAKS:
Killswitch Engage
Trivium
I'M GONNA GUESS YOU MIGHT LIKE:
Dredg
Thrice
Glassjaw
Clinic
Head Automatica
Strata
Kenna
Looks like I have my music week cut out for me. I am also told that these bands don't always get shoegazer crowds of the variety described in previous posts.

In the new prog-rock vein, I'm gonna suggest the Mars Volta too. I've only heard a few songs, but I think they'd fit on the list.
